Beat the Online Roulette

In this article we’ll look at several ways to beat the roulette wheel. When playing live online roulette, the house has a built-in advantage owing to the appearance of the zero number on the roulette wheel so it’s very much in your interests to hone your roulette strategy.

Magic 8 System

The Magic 8 system is a well-known strategy for trying to beat the odds at online roulette. The basic principle relies on a property of online roulette software that can be shown to be true with up to 98% likelihood.

Put simply, one of the previous numbers is likely to be repeated in subsequent plays after eight consecutive rounds.

For instance, if the previous results were 4, 9, 2, 35, 26, 7, 11, 14, 9, let the first round go by without placing any bets. Then place a bet on 4.

In the next round, bet on 9 and 2. Then 4, 9, 2. Then 4, 9, 2, 35 and so on. Keep betting until you reach the initial sequence of eight numbers that you’d initially observed.

If you don’t win throughout this initial run – a relatively unlikely outcome – then potentially try again with a longer sequence such as eleven numbers.

Beginning with eleven numbers isn’t totally advisable though as it significantly raises the overall risk factor. The profit/loss probabilities are more in your favour with eight rounds so try to build discipline into your play by sticking with that.

As soon as one of your eight numbers comes up, let a round go by without placing any bets and then start from scratch.

The Martingale Strategy

The Martingale strategy deals with how you change your bet amount when losing or winning. Using this strategy, you should double your bet when you lose and lower it to the minimum when you win.

For example, if you start betting on $1, and you lose, change your bet to $2. If you lose again, change it to $4, and so on. If you win, you should go back and bet $1.

If you persist in using this method and stop betting in a round where you won, you’re certain to win. The trick is obviously in the timing.

The first key point to bear in mind here is that you want to be pursuing this strategy with on of the 50-50 offers roulette provides such as Black/Red, 1-18/19-36 or simply Odd/Even.

Secondly, find a roulette table where you can start with a small minimum bet and reach a high maximum.

Here is a sample sequence of play using the Martingale Strategy:

  • $1 bet on red: Lose
  • $2 bet on red: Lose
  • $4 bet on red: Lose
  • $8 bet on red: Lose
  • $16 bet on red: Win

Here are the results: -1 -2 -4 -8 +16 = 1. In other words, you’ve come out ahead!

The Fibonacci Strategy

fibonacci strategy to win in an online roulette game

The Fibonacci sequence – discovered by Leonardo Pisano Bigollo – is a sequence of numbers where every number is the sum of the 2 numbers that preceded it.

For example: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, and so on.

When taking this sequence to the roulette table, the player should go one step forward in this sequence when winning a bet, and two steps back when losing one.

Also note that when you’re using this system to play online roulette for real money, stick to betting on one of the 50/50 options on offer.

An example round using this betting system:

$1 bet on red: Lose

$2 bet on red: Lose

$3 bet on red: Lose

$5 bet on red: Lose

$8 bet on red: Lose

$18 bet on red: Win

Here are the results: -1 -2 -3 -5 -8 +18 = 0. A break-even point has been reached.

The D'Alembert Strategy

d'Alembert mathematical theory of how to win in a roultte game

Jean d’Alembert was a French mathematician who, in his early years, invented another system that helps to beat the roulette wheel.

According to his theory, the way to beat the odds is to increase your chosen number by one when winning, and decrease it by one when losing. As with our other strategies, the bets should be placed on 50/50 opportunities in roulette when following this strategy.

Let’s look at an example round of betting with this roulette strategy:

  • $1 bet on red: Lose
  • $2 bet on red: Lose
  • $3 bet on red: Lose
  • $2 bet on red: Lose
  • $3 bet on red: Lose

Leading to results of: -1 -2 + 3 -2 +3 = 1. In this example, the system leads to you coming out ahead! Remember, we have a full list of articles discussing funding options for your roulette account to consult before you start betting.

Doyne Farmer

Doyne Farmer way of how to win an online roulette

Doyne Farmer is one of a pair of students who called themseves the Eudaemons and invented their own system to beat roulette.

This system is a little more complicated than the ones we’ve described above and requires the aid of a small computer to carry out some complicated calculations. The system has its roots in Chaos theory and applies the mathematics of that theory to the roulette ball’s journey around the wheel and into the slots. It’s a system that claims to offer an 18% success rate if you can handle the math required to implement it.
